[12/28/24] Winter Holiday

This winter holiday, I borrowed from the library before all the libraries are closing for an extended period of time due to the New Year, Dune. I'm unsure if it's a collection of the first three books into one or if it's just one very large book. Apparently there were some Dune films that came out as of late but I'm not quite up to date on the going ons in the world of cinema. Sitting down to watch films have always been difficult for me.

It's the only sci-fi book I could find in the library, most fiction there is either YA or the literary sort I always read. A month or so ago actually, I read a YA romance, A Very Large Expanse of Sea. The style of writing is to me, as someone who reads of a different style, new and novel, and I liked the protagonist's snark. I guess what I disliked about the book is just the hallmark traits of YA. Or so I'd suppose. I don't really read YA. I'm not sure why it was I borrowed it even, it happened that I picked it out and then, well, I read it. But it was a good book.

On the subject of characters, I drew more of Nozeki and C-ko. But I'm still tinkering around with different concepts of C-ko's design. And because I'm me, I've made Arthurian derivatives of them too, I just haven't yet written nor drawn anything on it.

(Translation: Look! Opabinia-san was only 500 yen!)

Whilst writing this actually, I'm waiting upon a student of mine. I teach English classes to some kids on certain days of the week. Actually, I believe they may be the same age as me...the kid's tardy!

After this, my sister expressed an interest in reading so I'm taking her to the library and as she enjoys shoujo anime, I thought perhaps I should reccomend her YA novels. As in, basically, the only YA novel I have read that I know of here. I hope my pick doesn't bore her. Then we'll go to the market, despite that she doesn't want to, because my mother said that the sight of the flower shops and how their entrances are decorated at this time of year is really a sight to behold.

This midnight, we'll be leaving for a daytrip. I really love to be out during the early day or late into the night. I feel during those times that I've really escaped time. Though then you look at that clock when you really do wake and it's late and time is here and real and crushing your fragile little bones. But it's a rare treat.
